About Interview PR
👋 Hi, I'm Mike!
I created Interview PR to make code interviews better. Back around 2018, I worked at four different software companies in just over a year's time. As you might imagine, changing jobs that much involves a lot of interviewing. I must have interviewed at least fifteen or twenty times that year. Some interviews were absolutely terrible, but a few stood out from the pack as a really great interview experience.
The best interviews I participated in made me feel like I got a sense for what it's like to work at the company while also making me feel like I was able to demonstrate my best abilities. Even as a candidate, I appreciated it when it seemed like the interview process was evaluating the right skills to pick the best candidate for the job. (And I felt like I was able to excel at these when the job I was applying to was a good match for my skill set!) Of about twenty interviews, I participated in about four take-home interviews, but these four interviews were all among the best experiences I had because I thought they closely matched real work and evaluated my skills fairly.
One of the best expriences I had with a take-home interview allowed me to submit my work as a GitHub pull request to a private repository, and that was the inspiration for Interview PR. With Interview PR, I hope to make it easier for companies to create great interview experiences for candidates using GitHub -- either as take-home interviews or in a more traditional collaborative format (that still works directly with code on GitHub).
